Remmalag på Visingsö

Remmalag — a peaceful trip to the sound of clattering hooves

At Visingsö you can make a round trip with “remmalag", the village´s popular horse carriage which has taken visitors around the island for over 100 years. The trip is slowly paced and you can enjoy the smells and nature experiences.
 “Remmalagen" started in the end of the 1800s when the steamboat shipping companies started making pleasure trips to Visingsö. In the beginning, flatbed wagons was used. “Rem" meaning bars and “la" is on older name for flatbed, creating the word remmala(g). From theportofVisingsöyou can go for an hour´s trip through the magnificentoak forestto KumlabyChurch. You will pass the ruin of Visingsborg," the centre" of the village, the parish warehouse from the 1700´s and graveyards from the Iron Age.

You can also order special trips for example to the temple yard or to the ruins of Sweden´s first royal castle- Visingsöborgen situated in Näs.
